Saudi journalist Hamza Kashgari deported from Malaysia

The BBC reports that Malaysia has deported a journalist who may face the death penalty on his return to Saudi Arabia. Hamza Kashgari is wanted by the murderous theocrats of that country for a series of tweets he sent last week :

Kashgari, a 23-year-old journalist with Al-Bilad newspaper in Jeddah, last week posted a series of tweets of imaginary conversations with the Prophet, in which he spoke to him as an equal, showing his admiration for the man but also confusion around his persona.

“On your birthday, I will say that I have loved the rebel in you, that you’ve always been a source of inspiration to me, and that I do not like the halos of divinity around you. I shall not pray for you” said one Tweet quoted by The Daily Beast.

Within an hour, 30,000 people had responded to those tweets according to AFP; a hashtag with Kashgari’s name had been created, and as the outrage spread in the course of the next few days, so did a video of a Saudi cleric weeping while calling for Kashgari to be tried under Islamic law for blasphemy.

There is apparently a Facebook page calling for Kashgari’s execution, that has 12000 members. Presumably all fervent adherents of that great religion of peace. When I watched the video of this cleric putting up a show, what with tears and all, asking for Kashgari to be executed citing medieval scripture as evidence, it occurred to me once more how outright insane, how religiously deluded and mentally incompetent, this cleric and the ones like him actually are.

Shame on Malaysia for deporting this man back into a country where deluded lunatics like the one in this video will petition the fascist theocrat who runs Saudi Arabia to kill Kashgari for the victimless crime of writing tweets about the alleged prophet of an imaginary god, who apparently is so petty, powerless and vain that any hint of criticism or critical thought about him must be punished by death or imprisonment.
