Oh dear, oh dear

Stieg Larsson, the Swedish writer who died much too soon but left with us the marvellous Millenium trilogy, in which he developed one of the most fascinating characters ever conceived in a crime fiction novel in the Goth hacker Lisbeth Salander, will surely rotate in his grave when he sees the poster for the upcoming Hollywood remake of the Swedish movie version of the books. Compare :

That’s the movie poster for the Swedish original on the left, with Noomi Rapace as Salander, and below is the poster for the remake, with James Bond Daniel Craig hugging a bare-breasted and as non-authentic as ever possible looking Rooney Mara as Salander.

Dear oh dear. I’m not looking forward to this at all, why can’t Hollywood leave such masterpieces alone ? What does “Evil shall with Evil be expelled” even mean in the context of the story ???
