Europe wrap-up

It’s almost time now. Thursday I’m flying home to Australia, and I expect better weather than the 12C and rain that I have experienced for a week here in Bremen, where it is supposed to be summer ! I’m well enough again to be sitting in a pub and sipping Guinness, coming full circle so to speak !
After I got here from Dublin, nothing much has gone right, really not ideal timing to come down with pneumonia on your once-a-year big annual leave trip. Anyway, I’m better now, thanks to antibiotics, and also courtesy of my wonderful Thai massage person (does “masseuse” have a different connotation, and one that I might want to avoid ?), who as it turned out today, is not only a very friendly, witty and clever person, but also currently finishing her Masters in Medical Science at the local Uni. Gotta love the 21st century.

A couple of lose ends to tie up. First, I never heard back from that woo-soaked Teachers Health Fund that is proudly promoting alt-med nonsense to their members. And no, I was not holding my breath.

Secondly, and this is more of a generic advice to anyone emailing me with a request to review some book or article, I am employed full-time and do blogging as an aside, because I like it, and because I get the odd encouraging feedback that makes it all worthwhile. So, if you do for some strange reason want me of all people to review a book or article or post, please keep in mind that the only way this is going to happen is if a) you send me a free copy of the material you would like reviewed, and b) you better intend to remunerate me for my time. Don’t worry, I’m easy, and take payment in beer or massage appointments.

So here’s a few pics of yours truly and his friends and co-conspirators from the past few weeks, I’m going to spend a day at my dad’s in German wine country tomorrow, and then I’m bound for home.
